01
Install, create the local account, and activate
- On the Beta download page, use the detected system recommendation or choose Universal, Apple Silicon, or Intel. Use the matching DMG for drag-to-Applications setup or run its PKG guided installer.
- Create an account with mandatory name, phone number, email, and a unique username.
- Use the username for normal sign-in. Email remains a separate contact and recovery identity.
- The encrypted account record is created locally; activation and approved profile fields synchronize to the cloud when internet is available.
- Enter the license key and activate this device. The key is permanently bound to the first workstation and cannot activate another machine.
- For DaVinci Resolve compatibility, enable External scripting using Local for this Mac or Network for a remote workstation.
02
Build and open a project workspace

- Choose Local or Network.
- Select New Project and choose a supported host connection or editorial-file mode.
- Use folders to group productions and the magnifying-glass controls to resize thumbnails.
- Export RDCP for a portable RealDepth project record; import it on another approved workstation.
- Double-click a card or press Open Project.
04
Ask RealDepth AI without hiding the workspace

Select the circular RD chat button at the lower-right. The modeless popup keeps the current module visible while status changes from Thinking to Typing and then Ready. The bundled model runs on this workstation; project prompts are not sent to a cloud AI service.
Ask about a function
- What inputs does Media Scanner need?
- Which evidence should I review before approving a match?
- Why is Timeline 1 offline?
Request a task
- Open Media Scanner and scan /Volumes/SHOW/Camera_RAW. Requires an approved media-root folder.
- Analyze Timeline 1 and prepare Offline Recovery. Requires a connected project, selected timeline, and media roots.
- Recover LUT paths for Timeline 1 using /Volumes/SHOW/LUTs. Requires a timeline and approved LUT folder.
- Run Verification for Timeline 1 and save a PDF in /Volumes/SHOW/Reports. Requires a selected timeline and writable output folder.
05
Select the timeline before any R-Core operation
- Open R-Core Match or LUT Intelligence.
- Select one or more timelines in the chooser.
- Continue only after confirming the target. RealDepth does not silently apply an operation to every timeline.
- Use the in-module timeline selector to switch targets and reconfirm.
06
Run the guided AI conform workflow

- Confirm the editorial source or active supported-host timeline.
- Add only the required camera-original root folders.
- Analyze timeline structure, reel, timecode, retimes, and offline items.
- Scan source media and technical metadata.
- Review match evidence; resolve low-confidence and ambiguous items manually.
- Preview and apply the relink/conform to the confirmed timeline.
- Verify picture, sync, structure, LUTs, effects, offline count, and exceptions.
- Export HTML, CSV, JSON, and PDF reports.
07
Scan and approve media matches
Scan camera originals before proxies. Compare reel name, source timecode, filename, duration, resolution, codec, camera metadata, and path evidence. Review Exact, High, Medium, Low, Ambiguous, and Unmatched groups separately. Approve only the intended take and frame range.
08
Use Timeline Intelligence and true viewer playback

The side viewer shows the connected host output through a local loopback mirror or approved remote companion, preserving grades, LUTs, effects and current output. Play/Pause, restart, and seek operate the selected host timeline. Create a blueprint for a read-only snapshot; use Clone, Mirror, Compare, Recover, and Verify for controlled operations.
09
Preview protected Cine Colors and recover LUT paths

- Select the target timeline and scan nodes or clips for missing LUT references.
- Open LUT Library → Cine Colors to compare licensed RealDepth looks against the approved skin-tone and color-chart reference frame.
- Select Refresh Cine Colors to receive the admin-approved catalog. The encrypted catalog included with the Beta build remains available offline.
- Cine Colors source URLs, cache locations, and LUT file paths are deliberately hidden and cannot be exported. Licensed looks can be previewed and applied only inside RealDepth.
- Use My LUTs for customer-owned files and DaVinci Resolve LUTs only when working with that supported host library.
- Review the timeline reference, proposed match, reason, and affected clips. Preview first, apply only the selected changes, and inspect representative shots.
10
Connect to a supported remote finishing host without indefinite waiting
- Sign both computers into the same approved Tailscale tailnet.
- For DaVinci Resolve compatibility, set External scripting to Network and restart the supported host.
- On Windows, install the packaged RealDepth Host Companion as Administrator.
- Create a Network project and select the discovered peer.
- Open a supported host project, connect, and confirm project/timeline state plus a live frame.
The finite-timeout companion bridge is attempted first. A bounded host-script fallback returns Connected or a specific actionable error instead of waiting forever.
11
Verify and report
Run Verification after every relink, conform, LUT recovery, clone, or imported revision. Resolve every red failure and document every accepted warning. Archive project/timeline identity, sources, match decisions, offline count, health, LUT status, operation time, and operator notes with the delivery.
12
Final delivery checklist
- Correct project and timeline selected
- Connected host project/timeline backup complete
- Camera-original roots confirmed
- Ambiguous and low-confidence matches reviewed
- Offline exceptions documented
- Picture, sync, retimes, transitions, reframes, grades, LUTs, effects and audio checked
- Verification passed and warnings signed off
- Reports, RDCP, and host backup archived
13
Troubleshooting
- Host Offline
- Start the supported host application, open a project, enable the required scripting access, and reconnect.
- No timelines
- Open or create a host timeline and refresh.
- Viewer unavailable
- Grant Screen Recording and Accessibility locally, or start the remote companion.
- Remote unavailable
- Check Tailscale, the host project, required ports, mirror service, and companion status.
- Low-confidence match
- Do not auto-approve; compare reel, timecode, duration, image, and audio evidence.
- Support request
- Include versions, mode, exact error, timestamp, timeline, report, and sanitized logs. Never send passwords, tokens, private databases, or a full license key.
